On Sunday, Dec 18, 2022, we headed to Portland, Oregon from Kingston, Washington even though we just arrived the day before.
On the road(mostly hitting on route 5), we passed 2 bridges. Nik was excited pointing me every river/evergreen trees which is rare in California in this season.
After 3 hours, we reached at Hyatt Centric that has the modern city styles. Then we met Matt and Caity at the first floor since we separated 3 years ago. How excited it was! They took a city walking tour to us.
Firstly, we went to a food truck center for food. I was surprised that the chinese food there was so close to the one in China. The jianbin just had the original taste/materials. I never had such great food ever in the USA!
Secondly, we walked to the Rose Test Garden. There were no roses/flowers there at that time, but the view on the top of it was fabulous. I hope we can have another trip when those roses blossom.
Afterwards, Matt and Caity invited us to their apartment that was antique. Can you image that the antique elevator with icon gate and an old rotary dial phone hanging up on the wall. The building looks like 150 years old at least.
Ultimately, we played the series card game. We won at the second time. Yeah! We headed back to hotel after a movie and shushi.
Nik got a stomach sickness. Not much update for the next two days. We basically stayed at the hotel.
Heading back to Washington hit a northbound traffic at late night. When having half mile away from home, our car couldn’t make it because of super slippery road. So we left the car there and walked the rest. During it, I fell down and my knee hit the ground. Ouch! That was painful and frozen.
We finally made it back home. Thank God!
